A Cal Poly San Luis Obispo student has been diagnosed with viral meningitis.
University officials say the student being treated for the disease is an off campus resident. Campus health officials have talked to students who may have come in contact with the student with the illness, to insure they aren’t showing symptoms.
Four UC Santa Barbara students were diagnosed in recent weeks with the bacteria which can cause meningitis, as well as a related blood disease. One of those students was permanently disabled by the disease. Hundreds of students at UCSB have been treated with antibiotics as a precaution against exposure.
