Fire Engine From South Coast Gets New Life On Central Coast

Posted on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 7:37pm

A fire engine which helped saved lives in southern Santa Barbara County for years now has a new life as an instructional tool on the Central Coast.

The Santa Barbara Fire Department this week donated a nearly 30 year old Mack fire engine to the Allan Hancock College Fire Technology program.  The engine had a long history in Santa Barbara, including helping to fight the massive Tea Brush Fire in 2008.

The donation could come back to help the Santa Barbara department, because more than 50% of its firefighters are graduates of the Santa Maria program.
