Former Police Officer on Central Coast Sentenced To 18 Months Behind Bars For Extortion

Posted on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 5:12pm

A former police officer on the Central Coast has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison in a corruption case.

Federal prosecutors say Cory Pierce was sentenced this week after he entered a guilty plea in June to an extortion charge.

The 40 year old man had been a City of San Luis Obispo police officer.

FBI agents who investigated the case say while working on a narcotics task force, Pierce obtained prescription pain killers from some of his sources.

In addition to the prison sentence, the Arroyo Grande man was ordered to serve three years supervised release, and pay $5500 in restitution.
