Santa Barbara County Based Relief Group Makes Biggest Single Shipment Of Medical Supplies In Its History To Philippines

Posted on Monday, November 25, 2013 12:55am

The largest shipment of emergency medical supplies ever sent out by a Santa Barbara County based relief group arrived in the Philippines today, to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

Direct Relief International shipped 50 tons of supplies to the disaster zone over the weekend, on a plane donated by Fedex.

But, DRI officials on the scene say much more help is going to be needed before hospitals, and clinics there will again be self sufficient.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco talks DRI team members in the Philippines, and here at home about the situation.
