New Highway 101 Interchange Complete On Central Coast

A long discussed interchange to help relieve congestion in a Central Coast city is finally a reality.

Work has been completed on the Highway 101-Union Valley Parkway interchange in Santa Maria.

The $10.8 million dollar project will help relieve traffic tieups during peak hours at the Santa Maria Way, and East Clark Avenue interchanges.

The new interchange will improve access to many areas business, as well as to Santa Maria Airport.

Work is also close to complete on another major project on the 101 in Northern Santa Barbara County, to widen the freeway from two, to three lanes in each direction over the Santa Maria River.
