Race For State Assembly Seat In Los Angeles, Ventura Counties Still Too Close To Call

Posted on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 2:55pm

An aide to a San Fernando Valley congressman has a narrow lead in a special election for a State Assembly seat which includes part of Ventura County.

Democrat Matt Dababneh of Encino has a 171 vote lead over Republican Susan Shelley of Woodland Hills for the 45th Assembly District seat, with just over 26,000 votes counted in the special election.

But, an estimated 2800 ballots still remain to be tallied.

The race is to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Bob Blumenfield, who resigned after winning a Los Angeles City Council seat.

The district covers parts of the western San Fernando Valley, including Woodland Hills, and Calabasas, as well as Bell Canyon in Ventura County.
