A Los Angeles County man has been arrested in conjunction with a string of brass, and copper pipe thefts in eastern Ventura County.
Some 14 thefts of piping have been reported from industrial buildings in the Moorpark area since September, with the piping being targeted because of its high resale value.
Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies patrolling the area noticed John Tebroski of La Crescenta walking a dog during the early morning hours in an area which had been hit by several of the thefts. When they stopped to talk to him, they noticed he had two wrenches, and a pry bar in his possession.
A search of his vehicle turned up materials like a saw used to remove piping.
The 39 year old man was arrested on five counts of felony grand theft, five counts of petty theft, along with other burglary, and drug possession related charges.
