Firefighters are hoping to get full containment today on a brush fire which may have blackened up to 100 acres of land in Ventura County.
The fire started on around the 6800 block of Wheeler Canyon Road around 11 yesterday morning.
Crews were on the fire lines overnight, with about 280 people assigned to the fire this morning. Ventura County fire officials say the estimated amount of acres burned may be reduced today, because more accurate mapping of the fire zone can take place.
There were voluntary evacuations in the Wheeler Canyon area yesterday afternoon, but the recommendation was lifted last night. No homes have been damaged.
Two firefighters had to be treated for heat exhaustion.
Firefighters had to deal with a second fire in Hammond Canyon yesterday afternoon, but a team flown to the spot was able to put it out before it could spread.
