Highway 101 Now Also Purple Heart Trail In Ventura, Santa Barbara Counties

Posted on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 7:11am

Purple Heart Trail Sign Unveiled During Veterans Day Ceremony

The busiest highway in Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties is getting a second name.

Highway 101 will still be Highway 101…but it’s now also the Purple Heart Trail.

You’ll soon see signs on the 101 highlighting the additional designation, which is intended as a tribute to those who have been awarded purple hearts for their military service.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco was on hand in Rincon Beach Park, near the Ventura/Santa Barbara County line, for the unveiling of the first sign on Veterans Day yesterday.
