Firefighters In Santa Barbara County Get Grant To Buy New Extrication Equipment

Posted on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 3:53pm

Five fire departments in Santa Barbara County are going to be receiving new gear to help them extricate trapped people, or animals, thanks to a grant.

The Santa Maria Fire Department served as the lead agency to help get a $200,000 grant form the California Office of Traffic Safety.  The money will allow the Santa Maria, Lompoc, Guadalupe, Santa Barbara City, and Santa Barbara County Fire Departments to get the latest versions of the “Jaws of Life” devices used to rescue people, or animals trapped in wreckage.
