Arrest Made In Connection With String Of Home Fumigation Burglaries In Ventura County

Posted on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 5:48pm

Police say a video camera helped catch a man responsible for at least some of the rash of home fumigation burglaries in the City of Oxnard.

Since the first of the year, 27 homes tented for pest removal in Oxnard have been hit by burglars, with the thieves taking things like electronics and jewelry.  Detectives say a surveillance camera set up by one of the fumigation companies caught Rigoverto Zamora of Oxnard on video, breaking into and stealing items from one of the tented houses.  They think the 28 year old man may also be responsible for some of the other burglaries.

Police say even with several fumigation companies now using surveillance systems, they are urging people to remove easily removeable items like money, purses, and small electronics, and make sure doors and window are properly locked.
