Actor Forest Whitaker To Be Honored By Santa Barbara International Film Festival In December Fundraiser

Academy Award winning actor Forest Whitaker is going to be honored on the South Coast, in a fundraiser for the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Whitaker will be presented with the festival’s Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence In Film, at a December 15th event in Goleta.

He starred in the highly acclaimed film “The Butler” this year with Oprah Winfrey, which is expected to garner some Academy Award nominations.

Whitaker has produced a number of award winning documentaries, and is involved with a number of international peace organizations.

He won an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the 2005 film “The Last King Of Scotland.”

Past honorees of the festival’s Kirk Douglas award include Kirk Douglas, and his son, Michael Douglas; Robert DeNiro, Harrison Ford, Ed Harris, and John Travolta.
