Simi Valley Reminds Registered Sex Offenders About Halloween Restrictions They Face

Posted on Monday, October 21, 2013 12:38pm

One Ventura County community is gearing up for Halloween by checking up on registered sex offenders, and reminding them they are not allowed to have decorations in their yards, and can’t pass out treats to kids.

The City of Simi Valley has an ordinance intended to restrict contact among the registered offenders with children.

Over the weekend, Simi Valley Police officers, along with state parole agents, and members of the Ventura County Probation Department made compliance checks on the more than 100 offenders who live in the city.

In addition to checking on the registrants, the offenders were give copies of the city’s ordinance, to try to insure they understand, and follow the restrictions.

Simi Valley is the only city in the region with an ordinance of this type.
