Ventura County Man Arrested On Forgery, Theft, And Drug Charges

A Ventura County man is under investigation for arson, and is facing theft, and forgery charges.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 300 block of East Ojai Avenue yesterday morning, by reports of an explosion in a dumpster, and a suspicious man in the area around the time of the blast.

Based on the description of witnesses, they found Christopher Hammond of Ojai nearby.

After questioning the 27 year old man, they say the found he had a large number of forged checks, stolen property, and drugs in his possession.

They say they linked him to a number of baggage thefts from an airport in Denver, and identity theft tied to the missing bags.

They say they’ve also connected Hammond to a number of bad checks used in Ventura County.
