New San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Sworn Into Office

Posted on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 12:34am

A schoolteacher, and Arroyo Grande City Councilwoman appointed by the governor to fill the vacancy created by the death of a San Luis Obispo County supervisor is now officially in office.

Caren Ray took the oath of office as the County’s 4th District Supervisor yesterday.  She had been elected to the Arroyo Grande City Council in 2010, and before that served as an Arroyo Grande Planning Commissioner.  She was a teacher at Santa Maria High School.

Ray resigned from her post on the Arroyo Grande Council, and with the school to take on her new full time post.

She takes over the seat left open by the death of County Supervisor Paul Texieira, who died following a heart attack in June.
