Big Rig Plunges Off 101 Freeway In Ventura County, And Careens Into Car Dealership

Posted on Saturday, October 5, 2013 11:00am

A big rig headed southbound on the 101 Freeway in Ventura County careened out of control into an auto dealership, where it started a fire, destroying or damaging about a dozen vehicles.

It happened in Oxnard, near Rose Avenue.

The big rig hauling paper products ended up in the Carmax dealership right off the freeway, on the 2000 block of Lockwood Street.

Firefighters controlled the fire in a few minutes.  The only reported injury was to the truck’s driver.  The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
