More Than $2 Million In Federal Grants Awarded To Help With Affordable Housing In Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo Counties

Efforts to create more affordable housing in Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties are getting a big boost, thanks to the federal government.

The U.S. Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution Fund is making nearly two million dollars in grants in the region.

The Housing Trust Fund of Santa Barbara County, the San Luis Obispo Housing Trust Fund, and Women’s Economic Ventures in Santa Barbara will each get $600,000.

The Peoples Opportunity Fund in San Luis Obispo is getting $96,000.

Democratic Congresswoman Lois Capps of Santa Barbara says the grants are part of nearly $1.3 billion dollars in financing nationwide to help with home, and business real estate developments.
