Full Containment Projected For Brush Fire In Los Padres National Forest, In Ventura County

Posted on Friday, September 20, 2013 5:43pm

A brush fire in a back country area of the Los Padres National Forest in Ventura County has burned more than two dozen acres of land.

What’s being called the “Sanctuary” fire was discovered just before 9 a.m. today, in the Hopper Mountain National Wildlife Refuge.

No structures are in danger.

The fire is burning in a rugged mountain area, which is making it tough to fight.

There’s no word on the cause of the fire.

The fire was 80% contained by late this afternoon, and it’s expected it will be fully contained tonight
