Longtime Santa Barbara Official To Retire

Posted on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 3:15pm

After close to four decades in public service, Santa Barbara’s Assistant City Administrator has announced plans to retire.

Marcelo Lopez says he will step down in December.

Lopez has spend 38 years in public service, including 18 years with the City of Santa Barbara.  He worked on a number of projects, ranging from gang task forces, to efforts to restore the city’s creeks.  While Lopez is steeping down from his post with the city, he’s not planning a complete retirement.  He will do some consulting work.

There’s no word yet on what the city will do about filling his post.
