Santa Barbara Based Breast Implant Maker Loses Lawsuit To Competitor

Posted on Friday, September 6, 2013 12:55am

A Santa Barbara County based company which makes breast implants has lost a major lawsuit against a competitor.

Mentor sued Sientra, claiming that it engaged in anti-competitive behavior in 2012, by hiring a number of key Mentor employees after the new company received FDA approval to sell implants.

More than a dozen members of Mentor’s sales staff left to join the new company.

Following a two month long Santa Barbara County Superior Court trial, a jury ruled in favor of Sientra.

Mentor is owned by pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson.
