Crisis Counselors On Hand At Simi Valley School Rocked By Killing Of Staff Member

Posted on Monday, August 26, 2013 6:37am

Crisis counselors are on hand at a Ventura County High School this morning, to help faculty, staff, and students cope with the death of a school office worker investigators believe was shot to death by her son.

There’s shock at Santa Susana High School in Simi Valley over the death of Sally Carnan.

Just before 5 p.m. Saturday, a man told Simi Valley police his brother had called him, and confessed to shooting their mother.  When officers went to the woman’s home on the 1100 block of Mellow Lane in Simi Valley, they found the house on fire.  After Ventura County firefighters put out the fire, they found the body of a woman inside.

While officers were at the scene, they received a report of a man in the Bridal Path neighborhood driving around on a tractor, and firing shots.  Officers confronted the man, fatally shooting 29 year old Ryan Carnan.  Police say had the officers not acted quickly, a number of people would have been killed, or wounded.

Detectives are now trying to figure out what led to the incidents.
