Efforts to fix a water main break which snarled traffic at a major eastern Ventura County intersection hit a setback today, when a second break occurred.
The problem hit just before six last night, at the intersection of Madera, and Tierra Rejada Roads in Simi Valley.
The break caused the roadway to sink, and created a power outage affecting thousands of customers.
Most people had electricity restored in a few hours, but traffic remained slow through the area overnight, and today as crews had to dig up the roadway, and replace the broken line.
After they fixed the damage, a second break occurred, prompting more repairs which are expected to last into this evening.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if possible.
