New Center Offering Hundreds Of Lifelong Learning Classes Opening On South Coast This Month

Posted on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 12:24am

The funding crisis that’s hit community colleges throughout the state almost meant the end of hundreds of adult education programs in one local district.

They are popular classes from art, to politics people take not because they want college credit, but because they are interesting, or fun.

Santa Barbara City College Trustees are giving the classes a chance to survive, by creating a new, self supporting center to continue, and even expand the offerings.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports the new center just released its first list offerings, which includes more than 500 courses.
