Ventura County Judge Grants Conservatorship To Mother Of Troubled Actress

Posted on Friday, August 9, 2013 11:47am

A Ventura County judge has given the mother of a troubled actress who grew up in the Conejo Valley temporary conservatorship.

The judge took the action today following a hearing over the status of Amanda Bynes.

The 27 year old woman has been held in a psychiatric facility for the last two weeks, after she was taken into custody following an incident in which she set a fire in the driveway of a Thousand Oaks home.

The actress didn’t appear at this morning’s hearing, but through her attorney she said she didn’t think the conservatorship was necessary.

But, Judge Glen Reiser disagreed, saying that after hearing evidence from a doctor who examined Bynes, and an investigator who interviewed her, the move was necessary.

Bynes has had a number of run-ins with the law in the last two years.

The judge granted Lynn Bynes the ability to make medical, and financial decisions for her daughter at least until September 30th.
