A class action lawsuit claims that a high tech organic farm on the Central Coast is mistreating its workers, by not giving them proper breaks, and not paying them for all the hours they work.
The non-profit investigative journalism project “Mission & State” is reporting that the lawsuit was filed on behalf of as many as 300 workers against Windset Farms.
Windset operates huge, state of the art greenhouses in the Santa Maria area to grow tomatoes, and other vegetables.
The farm’s workers are employed by the company through a contractor.
In a written response, Windset denies the allegations, and says it welcomes the opportunity to show the allegations are false.
