San Luis Obispo County Showcases New Sheriff’s Department Dispatch System

Posted on Monday, July 22, 2013 4:20pm

San Luis Obispo County officials are showcasing the county’s new state of the art Sheriff’s Department dispatch system, which they say will improve communications during a crisis.

The county replaced a nearly decade an a half old system that’s so outdated it’s not being made anymore.

The new system paid for by savings in the Sheriff’s department budget will allow deputies to more easily communicate with each other, as well as with other law enforcement agencies in an emergency.

The technology is similar to what’s now being used by the military, and was used to help handle security at the Super Bowl this year.
