A herd of pigs is being blamed for causing a traffic accident on Highway 1 in northern Santa Barbara County which sent two people to the hospital, and temporarily closed the highway.
It happened just before 6 a.m. yesterday, about three miles northwest of the Highway 1-Highway 101 interchange. A driver was headed southbound on the highway when he encountered the herd of pigs on roadway, and spun out of control. A second car also headed southbound then struck the first vehicle. The driver of the first car was seriously injured, and his passenger had minor injuries, while the driver of the second vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
