Former Ventura City Manager Moves Up With Post Helping To Run City Of Los Angeles

Posted on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 12:46pm

Ventura’s former City Manager is now going to help run the City of Los Angeles.

New Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has hired Rick Cole to be Deputy Mayor for Budget, and Innovation.

Cole was the former Mayor of Pasadena, and City Manager of Azuza before serving eight years as Ventura’s City Manager.  He helped guide the city through some tough financial times, protecting key services despite the loss of about 100 jobs.

He was forced out of his job by the Ventura City Council last year, with the council citing philosophical differences.

Cole then became the administrator of the San Buenaventura Mission.

Well respected in the municipal government field, he is especially known for his land use planning expertise.
