Vintage Pickup Truck Owned By Legendary Actor Steve McQueen When He Lived In Ventura County Up For Auction

A vintage pickup truck that legendary actor, and Ventura County resident  Steve McQueen used for his behind the wheel before he died from cancer is going to be auctioned this month.

McQueen drove the 1952 Chevy pickup truck from his Santa Paula ranch to the airport accompanied by the Reverend Billy Graham.  During the November, 1980 ride, Graham gave McQueen his bible, wheich he had with him when he died.

The actor flew to El Paso, Texas, and crossed the border into Juarez, Mexico, where he underwent cancer surgery, and died a few days later.

He starred in classic films like “The Great Escape,” “The Sand Pebbles,” and “The Getaway.”

McQueen owned more than 60 rare, and vintage vehicles.

The pickup will be auction as part of a celebrity memorabilia event in Santa Monica July 26 and 27th.
