It happened just after 5:30 p.m. Friday night.  Deputies were called to the Sulphur Mountain Road area, near Oak View, by reports of a man behaving suspiciously.  When they responded to the scene, the man sped away, leading them on a short chase.

They say he stopped at the end of Old Creek Road, got out of his vehicle, and pointed a gun at deputies.  Officers opened fire, fatally wounding the man.  There’s no word on how many shots were fired.  The deputies were unhurt.
