Thousand Oaks Rejects Proposed Indoor Marketplace

Posted on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 5:44pm

A proposal for a massive indoor marketplace in a Ventura County community has been narrowly rejected, after some officials felt it would be incompatible with the area.

On a 3-2 vote, the Thousand Oaks City Council rejected granting a permit to create an indoor swap meet in a vacant Newbury Park industrial building.

Plans called for the Corporate Center Drive site to house booths operated by as many as 150 vendors.

But, some nearby property owners objected, citing concerns like traffic, parking issues, and potential impacts on property values.
