State Fire Marshal’s Office Takes Over Investigation Of Simi Valley Fireworks Show Accident

Posted on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 12:57am

The State Fire Marshal’s office is taking over the investigation a fireworks show mishap in Ventura County on the Fourth of July, which left more than three dozen people injured.

State fire experts have more expertise with fireworks.  The move is also intended to remove any appearance of a conflict of interest, because the county fire department issued the permit for the Simi Valley show.

Early in the show some of the fireworks began flying into the crowd of more than eight thousand people.

Fortunately, none of the injuries were life threatening.
