New Head Of Central Coast College Set To Start Work Today

Posted on Monday, July 8, 2013 12:30am

The new head of a community college on the Central Coast officially starts work today.

Ken Walthers begins his new position as Superintendent, and President of Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria.

Walthers had been serving as President of Las Positas College, in Northern California since 2011.  Before that, he served as a college executive in Utah, and West Virginia.  Walthers was selected following a nationwide search.

Walthers will fill the vacancy created by the 2012 departure of Hancock College Superintendent/President Jose Ortiz, who left the Central Coast to head the Peralta Community College District.
