A broken sprinkler head is being blamed for flooding a commercial business complex in Ventura, damaging 11 businesses.
Ventura firefighters were called to the 4500 block of Telephone Road just after six this morning, by reports of a ceiling collapse. They arrived to find water pouring from the doors of the two story structure.
Investigators say a sprinkler head in the building’s second floor burst sometime Sunday night, and water then poured down, eventually causing first floor ceilings to fall. The firefighters quickly turned off the water system, and then spent hours helping to remove water, and debris from the businesses.
Investigators say they found that the broken sprinkler head was one which was subject to a recall, and should have been replaced.
