Vehicle Discovered In Santa Barbara County Canyon May Be Linked To Missing Persons Case

Posted on Friday, July 5, 2013 12:22am

A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department helicopter discovered a vehicle at the bottom of a ravine in the Santa Ynez Valley which officials believed is linked to a more than year old missing persons case.

The chopper was flying over Painted Cave Road, at Highway 154 just before one p.m. yesterday when a crew member spotted the wreckages of a Chevy pickup truck 300 feet down a cliff, in some heavy brush.

A search and rescue team recovered the vehicle.  CHP officers say it contained human remains.  Officials think the vehicle is that of a person who disappeared in March of 2012, but haven’t positively confirmed it yet.
