Dog Shot As It Attacks Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy

Posted on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 12:39am

A Ventura County Sheriff’s deputy shot a pit bull which was threatening the officer who was trying to contact a probationer near Ventura.

It happened at around 11 a.m. yesterday, on Larkspur Drive.

The deputy saw a woman who was on probation, but when the officer tried to contact her she fled into a home.  As the woman ran inside, a dog ran outside.  The deputy used a baton to try to fend off the dog, and when that failed, the officer shot the dog.

The deputy was uninjured.  The dog is expected to survive its wound.
