A light plane crashed into an industrial park in San Luis Obispo this afternoon, killing the plane’s pilot.

It happened at around one this afternoon.   The plane was apparently trying to take off from San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport when it had some type of problem, and plunged into an industrial area about a half mile from the field.

The plane hit a delivery truck, and a building, starting a fire.  A hazmat team was sent to the scene, because of concern about chemicals in the building, but the fire was quickly extinguished.

There is no word of any injuries on the ground, but there were a number of people in the building when the plane hit.  Authorities closed the area to the public, evacuating some buildings in the Granada Drive area.
