Santa Barbara Businessman, Landlord Reaches Settlement In Suit Over Employee Wages

Posted on Thursday, June 20, 2013 8:18am

A Santa Barbara businessman, and landlord who’s faced numerous legal challenges has reached a tentative settlement over allegations he failed to properly pay hundreds of hotel, and motel employees.

The non profit in-depth news reporting project “Mission & State” is reporting today that Dario Pini has reached a $750,000 deal to settle a class action lawsuit filed by two former receptionists at Pini’s motels.

The deal covers more than 460 employees from receptionists, to maintenance workers at more than a half dozen motels in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Kern Counties.  It’s still subject to final approval by a judge next month.  Pini’s lawyer didn’t respond to a request for comment.

“Mission & State” is a new Santa Barbara based project focused on investigative,  and long form journalism published online at “MissionandState.org”
