Panga Boat Found On Santa Barbara County Beach; Third In Same Area In Weeks

Posted on Monday, June 17, 2013 4:06pm

Yet another panga boat believed to have been used for smuggling has been discovered on a Santa Barbara County beach, the third in the same general area in recent weeks.

An off-duty Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the craft on the shoreline of Tajigas Beach, just north of Refugio State Beach at around seven this morning.  Federal Homeland Security,, and U.S. Coast Guard officers removed the 25 foot long boat, but were unable to determine if it had been used for drug smuggling, or human trafficking.

It’s the third panga boat discovered in the Refugio State Beach area in recent months.
