Two Canadian naval vessels which arrived at Port Hueneme this week are among the craft taking part in military exercises off the Ventura County coastline.

The warships HMCS Saskatoon, and HMCS Nanaimo will be a part of the Coastal Trident 13 drills next Tuesday through Thursday.  The 181 foot long coastal defense vessels will practice dealing with detecting, and identifying mines as a part of the exercise.

More than 5000 U.S. Marines, sailors, and coalition forces from Canada, Japan, and New Zealand are taking part in the overall training effort, which is focused on ship to shore amphibious operations.
