Gas company crews, and Ventura County firefighters say they’ve wrapped up repairs of a potentially dangerous gas line leak in Newbury Park.
The problem was discovered just after 10 a.m, on the 1200 block of Newbury Road, with a break in a major gas line.
Authorities issued a warning to people within a half mile area of the leak, but decided widespread evacuations weren’t necessary. About 10 to 20 people were evacuated from mobile homes, and businesses in the immediate vicinity.
The repairs were completed just after 1:30 p.m., and the evacuees were allowed to return home. Ventura County Fire department officials say a cover may have fallen onto the underground pipeline, causing the leak.
