The Thousand Oaks man served in the Army during World War Two. After his brother, Dana Andrews, found success in Hollywood, the Texas native moved to California, and enrolled at UCLA. After he became a stagehand at the La Jolla Playhouse, he met actor Gregory Peck there, who cast in him in a production, and got him a screen test which led to his first onscreen roles.

He starred in TV series like “Gunsmoke” and “Bonanza,” and movies like “The Longest Day” and “Mommie Dearest.”

Forrest died at his Thousand Oaks home. He was 87 years old.
