Community Group Hires Environmental Law Firm To Help With Appeal Of Approval Of New Oil, Gas Drilling In Ventura County

Posted on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 2:37pm

A community group hired a non-profit environmental law firm in its efforts to challenge Ventura County’s approval of some onshore gas, and oil drilling projects.

The newly formed group called Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas is appealing the County Planning Staff’s approval of nine new wells, and the renovation of two existing wells in the Upper Ojai Valley.

The group contends insufficient environmental review occurred, and appealed the staff decision to the Ventura County Planning Commission.

The community group hired the Santa Barbara based Environmental Defense Center to help make its case at Thursday’s appeal hearing.
