Just in time for the Memorial Day Weekend, Heal The Bay’s Annual Beach Report Card is out, and is giving Ventura, and Santa Barbara County beaches their highest marks in years for water cleanliness.
The report says Ventura County’s beaches received an A rating for cleanliness year round, the best it’s done in five years.
It says Santa Barbara County’s beaches had an A or B most of the time, with a sharp overall improvement over the five year average. The only C reported was for Ledbetter Beach, during the winter when runoff took contaminants into the ocean.
Heal The Bay says statewide, 93% of 445 beaches monitored achieved A’s or B’s. Topping the worst list was Avalon Beach, on Catalina.
