Ventura County Grand Jury Looks At Financial Reporting Tied To Municipal Employee Pensions, Health Care

Posted on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 12:19am

A new Grand Jury report says that while the 10 cities in Ventura County are struggling with rising employee pension and health care costs, they are doing a good job of tracking the problem.

The Grand Jury looked at how the cities are meeting guidelines established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, which is a private agency which established standards for monitoring government finances, and reporting them to the public.

The Grand Jury focused on date related to employee pensions, and healthcare.

The report says the cities are all doing a good job in providing clear information on how the cities are doing in this area, and that they need to continue to provide key facts on an important public issue.
