National Park Service Reopening Some Trails Closed By Springs Fire In Ventura County

Posted on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 12:43am

The National Park Service is reopening some trails in Ventura County closed by the gigantic Springs Brush Fire.

The 24,000 acre blaze closed some popular trails. The Park Service is reopening Rancho Sierra Vista, in Newbury Park today, but some trails will remain off limits.

Because of trail damage, visitors won’t be able to travel into Sycamore Canyon, but they will be able to reach the overlook at the boundary with Point Mugu State Park.

Also reopening today are the Sandstone Peak, and Mishe Mokwa trailheads, as well as the Backbone trail east of Point Mugu State Park.
