Firefighters continue to make big progress towards containing the Springs brush fire, which has burned 28,000 acres of brush in Ventura County.
The fire is now 75% contained, with full containment still projected for tomorrow.
A heavy marine layer, cooler temperatures, and little wind aided the 1800 firefighters working to fully knock down the blaze.
Cal State Channel Islands reopened tonight, with the fire threat passing, and campus personnel working to clean things up after the blaze passed nearby.
Meanwhile, fire investigators say we may never know the cause of the blaze. It started on the south side of the 101 Freeway near Camarillo Springs Thursday morning. Investigators say there are no signs it was set intentionally, but they also say there’s no evidence to pinpoint how it began.
The fire damged 15 homes, and destroyed 25 outbuildings, sheds, and vehicles.
