Cinco de Mayo occurs this weekend, and as a result law enforcement agencies in Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties are beefing up DUI patrols.
In Oxnard, police are holding a DUI/Drivers license checkpoint Friday night, but one with a new twist.
The checkpoint will be dedicated to a Ventura County woman killed by a DUI driver. There will be pictures of the woman on display, drivers will get pamphlets with her story, and her family will be on hand.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco talks with the mother of the DUI victim, as well as the officer who organized the checkpoint about this powerful new effort to impact the local driving under the influence problem.
