The rainfall season is still weeks from being over, but it’s currently on track to be only about half of the annual average for Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties.
It has firefighters in the region worried about brushfires, because the lack of rainfall means that the brush is as dry now as it normally is in mid-summer.
Ventura County firefighters already got a taste of the danger, with an explosive blaze this month in the Fillmore area that threatened dozens of homes before it was contained.
