Conejo Valley School Briefly Placed On Lockdown, After Man Claims He Was Being Chased By Someone With Knife

There was a scare, and a campus lockdown at a Conejo Valley school this afternoon, after a man ran onto the campus, and claimed he was being chased by someone with a knife.

It happened at around 2 p.m. at Ascention Lutheran School, a private elementary school on the 1600 block of East Hillcrest Drive, in Thousand Oaks.

Deputies say they determined that Jesse Garcia wasn’t be chased by anyone, but was under the influence of drugs.

Sergeant Eric Buschow, with the Ventura County Sheriff’s department, says the 21 year old man was arrested for being under the influence of drugs.

Buschow says the students at the school were never in danger, and the campus was released from the lockdown in about a half hour.
